About Us

Welcome to our 2010 season!!
We continue to feature some of Columbus’ most outstanding musicians and celebrated artists from around the country.
Naumburg Cello Competition winner Clancy Newman returns for the final two concerts of the season, other guests include cellist Mark Rudoff and tenor Andrew Blosser from The Ohio State University, violist Vicky Chiang from the Peabody Conservatory, Columbus violinist David Radzynski, violinist/violist Korine Fujiwara, violinist Rhonda Frascotti, cellist Pei-An Chao, and double bassist Jean-Etienne Lederer, all from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and Canadian pianist Cameron Bennett, Professor of Piano at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Our opening concert - On Wenlock Edge - features Vaughan Williams' On Wenlock Edge for tenor, string quartet and piano and the wonderful Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 13 by Richard Strauss.
Our second week - Black, White and In Between - is a thrilling program that will highlight some of the pinnacles of the chamber music repertoire. Featured works include Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18, No. 6, Franck's Piano Quintet in F minor and an incredible new work by Dirk Brosse, Black, White and In Between, for violin and piano.
The final week - From the Old World to the New - features two of the most famous and beloved works in the chamber music literature, Dvorak's "American" String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, and Schubert's "Trout" Piano Quintet in A major. Also on the program is Webern's incredibly romantic Langsamer Satz for string quartet.
Brief commentary from the stage will explain and connect the works on each concert, and possibly give you a new insight into the music as you listen.
Come join us for these outstanding programs. Because we will continue to offer the concerts free of charge, it is vital that if able, you make a contribution. I believe that price should not be a barrier to anyone who wishes to attend these concerts, but only through your generosity will we be able to bring these concerts to life. Stay after the concerts for a modest reception and an opportunity to meet and talk with the artists. Both of our venues, First Community Church in Columbus, and Asbury United Methodist Church in Delaware, offer you the chance to hear and experience music in outstanding acoustics, and close enough to the artists to catch every nuance of the performance. Please note that our Delaware concerts move to Saturday evenings this year!
I am counting down the days and I hope you will put our dates on your calendar.
