Andrew Blosser, tenor
C. ANDREW BLOSSER is a native of Belle Center,
Ohio, has performed roles in opera and musical theatre, presented master
classes, and performed recitals throughout the United States, Austria, Hungary,
Poland, and Switzerland. He received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music
Education from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University, a Master of
Music in Voice Performance and a Doctor of Musical Arts from The Ohio State
University.
Blosser has been a featured guest with The Ohio State University Men’s Glee
Club, The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra, Muskingum Valley Symphonic
Winds, and South Eastern Ohio Symphonic Orchestra. As the winner of The Ohio
State University’s 2008 School of Music DMA Concerto Competition, he performed
Ralph Vaughn Williams’ On Wenlock Edge with The Ohio State University Symphony
Orchestra. He is a frequent guest performer at Terra State Community College’s
guest artist series held at the Port Clinton Performing Arts Center and the
Sandusky State Theatre, and was a 2009 recipient of the Terra State Community
College Performing Arts Certificate of Appreciation for his dedication to
promoting the performing arts. In August 2009, he premiered a new work, The
Solemn Blessings, by contemporary composer Michael J. Shirtz, at Hoover
Auditorium, as part of the Lakeside Chautauqua on the Lake Music and Worship
Series.
Blosser is currently teaching voice at The Ohio State University and at Capital
University where he conducts the Capital Chordsmen, formerly the Capital
University Men’s Glee Club. Prior to these appointments, he served on the
faculties of Terra State Community College, Muskingum University, and Ohio
Christian University. He is the tenor soloist and section leader at First
Community Church in Columbus, where he sings in the Chamber Singers and Chancel
Choir, and is seen on the weekly television broadcast First Edition. He holds
professional memberships with the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), the
American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Phi Kappa Lambda, and was recently
initiated into the Phi Mu Alpha fraternity as an honorary faculty member. Blosser
resides in Columbus with his wife, Amy.
