Jean-Etienne Lederer, double bass
JEAN-ETIENNE LEDERER, born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, moved to Dallas,Texas at age 4. Shortly thereafter, he began his musical studies on the violin. After four years, he switched to the cello and after another six years he found his true calling when he picked up his father's instrument, the bass. After graduating from college with a degree in Mathematics, Jean-Etienne was appointed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to a one-year position. Since then, he has performed with them numerous times including three European tours. From 1998 - 2001, he was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. He has been an associate musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra since moving to Columbus in 2001. In 2004, Jean-Etienne discovered another passion and became a librarian for the symphony. Since then, he has enjoyed both the preparation and the performance aspects of his work with the CSO. He lives in Columbus with his wife and their two children.
