Pei-An Chao, cello

PEI-AN CHAO, born in Taipei Taiwan, moved to New York City in 1987 to study music.  She pursued both piano and cello while attending the Preparatory Division of Manhattan School of Music.  Later, in college, she shifted her focus to cello studies and obtained her Bachelor degree from The Manhattan School of Music.  In 1998, she received the Master degree from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, graduating with honors in outstanding performance.   Prior to joining the Columbus Symphony in 2000, she was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida from 1998 to 2000.  Pei-An has participated in many renowned festivals including Pacific, Sarasota, Colorado, Spoleto, Tanglewood, Kent/Blossom, New York String Seminar and Waterloo Festivals.  She enjoys playing duets with her husband, and playing chamber music with her friends from the Symphony.
